Carry the spirit of early 20th-century luxury — when Pierce-Arrow's 1914 vintage advertisements celebrated American automotive excellence through René Clark's Art Nouveau illustrations, and the "Rolls Royce of America" became the automotive choice of the educated and affluent classes.

The Pierce-Arrow Motor Car Company, based in Buffalo, New York, earned the nickname "Rolls Royce of America" as one of the most respected names in American luxury automobiles — founded in 1865 and operating as an automaker from 1901 to 1938, synonymous with quality, craftsmanship, and social status. In 1914, the company adopted its most enduring styling hallmark: moving headlights from the sides of the radiator to a permanent position integrated within the front fenders. That same year, artist René Clark (Rene Clarke) created a series of Art Nouveau-inspired advertisements for Pierce-Arrow published in Country Life in America magazine — part of the "illustration revolution" led by the Calkins & Holden agency, which emphasized lifestyle and high art over technical specifications. This distinguished hardcover journal presents two of Clark's most celebrated 1914 advertisements: the December Vestibule Suburban on the front, and the November Harvard-Yale prestige advertisement on the back.

Front Cover — Pierce-Arrow Vestibule Suburban, René Clark, Country Life in America, December 1914:
The front cover presents Clark's December 1914 advertisement for the Pierce-Arrow Vestibule Suburban — an Art Nouveau composition of extraordinary elegance: two vertical panels flanking central text, the left panel depicting elegantly dressed figures including a woman in a purple coat standing near the Pierce-Arrow, the right panel showing a high-end social gathering, and the main image featuring a chauffeur opening the door for a family, emphasizing "dependability" and "efficiency of service" for those living on a "large scale." The composition contrasts the modern Pierce-Arrow limousine with a horse-drawn carriage, symbolizing automotive progress — the old world giving way to the new, with all the grace and confidence of Art Nouveau design.

Back Cover — Harvard & Yale Prestige, Pierce-Arrow Permanency, November 1914:
The back cover presents Clark's November 1914 advertisement featuring the seals of Harvard and Yale — associating Pierce-Arrow with Ivy League prestige and "permanency," emphasizing that Pierce-Arrow luxury lies in the permanent assurance of safe, smooth, and comfortable transportation. The advertisement positioned Pierce-Arrow as the automotive choice for America's educated and affluent classes, depicting the automobiles in refined settings such as university events, country clubs, and high-society gatherings. The Art Nouveau aesthetic, combined with references to Harvard and Yale, created one of the most sophisticated automotive advertisements of the early 20th century.
