Every month, a different century. From Nicolas de Fer's 1705 baroque planisphere to Elias Colbert's 1869 star maps, this calendar traces the golden age of astronomical education through thirteen original wall charts — hand-colored engravings, chromolithographs, transparent diagrams, and woodcut prints that once hung in classrooms, observatories, and parlors across Europe and America.
The front cover features Tafel I Mathematical Geography, a late 19th–early 20th century chromolithograph by Baur & Böhm/Otto Maier, depicting celestial and terrestrial geometry with the precision of the German Schulwandtafel tradition. The back cover showcases James Reynolds's 1846–1850 Transparent Solar System — rendered in the hold-to-light engraving style of Victorian London, designed to reveal layered orbital information when held up to light.
